Workers at the Starbucks in Oviedo — located at 305 E. Mitchell Hammock Road — had been working to become unionized since they sent a letter of intent in March to Starbucks Workers United. When the Lions scored a touchdown, the band roared with cheers before playing the “fight song” and showing their support for their school’s football team. Oviedo won the game against Timber Creek 28-7.
An alumna from the Oviedo High School class of 1991 joined the color guard in the halftime performance and in the stands to cheer for the football team alongside the Oviedo Marching Lions. At the event on Sept 23., the alumni in the band and color guard spanned 30 years.
On the final day of the summer camp held at Rosen College of Hospitality Management to immerse students with disabilities into the hospitality industry, students gather for a graduation ceremony. Dr. Fevzi Okumus, a Rosen professor, presented students with certificates of completion of the camp, which ran from June 20-24.
